Educational Records Review/Educational Planning

Educational Records Review/Educational Planning

As the school year comes to an end, we encourage you to reflect on the 2022-2023 school year and proactively prepare for the 2023-2024 school year.

How do you review your child’s academic assessments for the school year?

When reviewing your child’s academic assessments for the school year, it is important to take a thorough and in-depth look at their performance. Start by gathering all of the relevant documents such as end of year exams, midyear reports, teacher notes, and any other academic records. Once you have these materials collected, use an organized system of evaluation that allows you to review each type of assessment individually.

Using this framework, start by reading through all the assessments and taking note of anything that stands out as particularly strong or weak points in your child’s academic performance. This can include grades and results from tests, but also comments from teachers about areas where your child excels or needs improvement.

You should also compare your child’s results to their past performances throughout the school year as well as any national standards or benchmarks that are established in their region. The comparison will help to identify if there may be any discrepancies between expectations and actual results which would need further investigation or intervention going into the new school year.

By taking a comprehensive look at all aspects of your child’s academic performance throughout the school year, you can accurately assess how they are doing overall and decide on a plan for targeted support where needed going into the next school year.

School Year Review

It is important to have a school year review before the summer break to ensure that your child does not regress in academics. This review should encompass all areas of academic learning, such as reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and social skills. It should also consider any extracurricular activities in which your child may have participated during the school year.

When conducting a review for your child’s academic performance over the course of the year, it is important to look at their overall grades as well as evaluations from their teachers. In addition to evaluating marks on tests and quizzes, look at the effort your child put into completing assignments or projects and submissions of work outside of class. This can give you an understanding of how much they were engaged in the learning process throughout the year. Additionally, compare reports from different teachers about how your child was performing.

Seeing discrepancies between different instructors’ reports could help you identify potential issues that may be contributing to any potential regression in skills over summer break. It is also essential to investigate whether there are any underlying needs or issues that are affecting your child’s academic success. For example, if they have been identified with a learning disability or have had difficulty focusing on tasks throughout the year due to mental health concerns, it is important that these factors are taken into consideration when looking at their academic achievements.

Discussing any difficulties with teachers and counselors can help identify more effective strategies for supporting them while they learn going forward into summer vacation and beyond.By taking time out of each school year to conduct a thorough review of your child’s academic performance, you can anticipate potential issues that may contribute to learning regression over summer vacation and take steps now to prevent this from happening in the future.
